August-September 2020

  • Sister Maria Andrée Huveke

In the last information, I said that I will be back in Montgeron on September 8th. Due to the health crisis, the company postponed the flight scheduled for September 7 to 11. I will therefore be in Montgeron from September 12th.

I spent the first part of my stay from July 24 to August 27 in the Marquesas Islands. Since August 28, I am in Tahiti. On August 30, I met the associates who were very happy to welcome me and take time together.

This Thursday, September 3, it was with joy that I met Monsignor Jean Pierre Cottenceau.

  • Sister Monique Couture

She is back in Montgeron since September 03. She sums up her stay. “During the month of August it was very good to be home with our sisters and with my family despite the quarantine requirements and restrictions on travel and site visitation.

Our sisters in the United States are always interested in news from other provinces. Sister Elaine especially asked for news of many sisters she knew during her different terms in France as Councilor and Superior General. Although time was short, we were able to take time to share news, concerns, and to come together in prayer in the hope of a future free from the constraints of COVID.

During my stay, mom underwent 2 eye surgeries in 10 days. The fact that I am present at this time is very providential, a very special grace. Her reaction when she started to see her own hands aroused great emotions in all of us. Mom is very grateful for all the support of prayers. She is continuing her postoperative follow-up treatments ”.

Continuing education

Sisters Julia BEMASO and Marie-Christine AHADJITSE attended the ESDAC training which was held in Chevilly Larue, from August 22 to 30, 2020. It allowed them to deepen the ESDAC process and to feel the importance of Spiritual Conversation. They practiced establishing a prayer sheet and jointly discerning concrete situations. This training can help them in their current mission.

Canada

For more than 3 years, the sisters of the Maison Centrale, the infirmary and Jean Maurice have been preparing to leave these places to live in a new environment. Thus, on Sunday August 16, aware of the detachment they have to live, it is with joy that the sisters of the province gathered together for a last celebration in the beautiful chapel of the Central House.

The move began on September 1, but the sisters of Jean Maurice will take possession of their new apartment on September 10 and 11.

We assure them of our fraternal support in this important stage and wish them good adaptation.

Healing time

Sisters Yvette NUTSUGAN and Hortense SOANIRINA will resume their classes, one at the Four Seasons Intercommunity Center (CIQS) and the other at the Institute for Integral Human Formation of Montreal (IFHIM).

West Africa

On Saturday September 12, 2020, Elisabeth SANWOGOU and Sophie NOELAKI will make their first profession. The celebration will be held in the novitiate at Alafiarou at 9:30 am. The Togolese borders being always closed, the sisters hope that the parents of future professed can be present. It is a grace for the province and the Congregation to welcome two new members. We welcome Elisabeth and Sophie and assure them of our support and prayers. May the Sacred Heart of Jesus continue to show them the infinite riches of his heart.

In line with the intention of Pope Francis invites us to pray for the respect of the planet’s resources, I also invite you to take up this prayer either personally or in community.

Prayer for our land

“Almighty God who is present throughout the universe and in the smallest of Your creatures,

You who surround all that exists with your Tenderness,

spread on us the strength of your Love so that we protect life and beauty.

Inundate us with Peace, so that we live as brothers and sisters without causing harm to anyone.

O God of the poor, help us to rescue the abandoned and forgotten of this earth who are so worthy to your eyes.

Heal our lives,

so that we are protectors of the world and not predators,

so that we sow beauty and not pollution or destruction.

Touch the hearts of those who seek only profit at the expense of the land and the poor.

Teach us to discover the value of everything, to contemplate, amazed,

to recognize that we are deeply united with all creatures on our way to your infinite Light.

Thank you because You are with us every day.

Please support us in our struggle for justice, love and peace. So be it. “
